Newest arrival: Surprise Colt born at HAA Ranch!
HAA rescued Paige, a 4 year old mustang mare, in December of 2010. She was part of the group rescued from the "Kill Auction". With her was a 3 week old filly, Piper. Both were very skinny and needed groceries, love, and understanding. After almost a year, the two of them are doing great, both of them are learning to trust humans more.
To our surprise this morning at about 6:30 am, a colt, (we named him "Leo Surprise"), was born to Paige. Paige showed no signs of being pregnant, and we assume that she was covered at the 'feed lot' before we rescued her. Check back for details and updates on Leo Surprise, and watch him grow and learn.....
If you would like to help Paige and the new baby Leo Surprise, or to donate a bail of hay, please contact us at (530) 254-6631
Successful Adoption For Dallas!
The Merritt Family adopted Dallas on October 8, 2011.Dallas was rescued in the spring of 2010, when he was abandoned in a small field with only a trashcan that was catching rain water. Dallas was found with an extensive injury to his leg that caused him severe pain that he did not want to walk at all. We are proud to say that Dallas has found his forever home with the Merritt Family. We congratulate Dallas and the Merritt Family and wish them many years of companionship.
“I feel that taking in an animal is not just for show or temporary fun, I feel it’s a commitment for the life of the animal.”
~ Kelley Merritt
“Dallas made a miraculous recovery from his leg injury and is a very sweet horse that deserved a home and family that would love and care for him.”~ Rita Luallen, HAA Founder
